State parks re-open: Texas state parks re-opened for day use Monday under direction from Gov. Greg Abbott.

Visitors will be required to wear face coverings and maintain a 6-foot distance from people outside of their party. Groups larger than five are prohibited from gathering.

"As we navigate through these challenging times, it is essential that outdoor experiences and opportunities are available for Texas families," said Texas Parks and Wildlife Department director Carter Smith.

All visitor and nature centers remain closed and equipment rentals are still suspended. Visitors must purchase and print permits before travelling to a park. They are encouraged to bring hand sanitizers and face masks.

As of Monday, a total of 20 inmates and 21 deputies have tested positive for COVID-19, along with a video visitation employee, a dispatcher, a maintenance worker, a UHS nurse assigned to the jail, and a mechanic who serviced BCSO vehicles.

San Antonio now has 1,015 confirmed cases of COVID-19, Nirenberg said at the daily city-county briefing.

The death toll stands at 39. There have now been 18 residents of the Southeast Nursing facility who have died after testing positive for novel coronavirus. The person whose death was reported Sunday was a Hispanic male in his 70s, Nirenberg said, who had multiple underlying health conditions.
