The Texas National Guard will be operating two mobile coronavirus COVID-19 test sites in the Big Country on Saturday and Sunday for people who are screened via a telephone number.

Testing will be conducted 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Runnels County Community Center in Ballinger. The center is at 200 Crosson Ave.

A station will be operational 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Anson Fire Station, 1102 Avenue I.

Participants must first call 512-883-2400 to be screened for symptoms and risk factors and schedule an appointment. Screening also is available at txcovidtest.org. Only people who have exhibited at least one COVID-19 symptom will be tested, according to information from the Anson Police Department. 

The Texas National Guard established a mobile unit at Eastland Memorial Hospital on Friday. 

The state is sending National Guard units to rural areas with limited COVID-19 testing supplies.
